SANCTUARY
installed at Elijah Wheat Showroom, Newburgh NY, 2025
charred cedar, Saunders Waterford paper, pigments, pencil
144 x 84 x 92 inches

This is the fourth iteration of SANCTUARY. With each one, the installation changes not only responding to the limitations and possibilities of the site but also evolving in formal ways. The configurations of the cedar saplings and their shadow play change. Their movement is incidental generated by wind or touch. In past iterations, the drawing has been done directly on the wall. The drawing on paper has hung flat against the wall or in free space as it is here. The amount of asemic writing in the drawing has increased with each installation.
