This iteration of the ongoing project When There Were Birds was installed at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park, Tivoli NY, in the raw space of the Stanford White barn. An amazing light and wind moved through the barn and the work. Pigeons inhabited the loft and the song of their wings and the sound of their cooing became a sonic field. Composer musician Timothy Hill who has collaborated on the previous iterations of When There Were Birds visited one day when I happened to be there as well with a friend. Timothy was moved to sing and the installation came into its fullness for these suspended moments. My friend Monika thought quickly to record the magic that was unfolding. This video is a compilation of her segment and ones that I recorded over the duration of the installation.
